A recipe for an adult creamsicle drink called a Vanilla Orange Daiquiri Cocktail that uses dark rum, vanilla bean, and orange juice to create a delicious dark rum cocktail.
This 17th century liquor has such a vibrant and unique history. From days of being believed to be the cure to perfect hair to it’s piracy past we all love to tip a good “But where did all the rum go?” too. Rum is just a fun liquor to work with and get to know. A classic rum cocktail we all know is the daiquiri. Not a first to Elle Talk, last year I took the daiquiri as a chance to create a summer to fall transitional cocktail.
This year I’m doing the same by using warm vanilla, the smokiness of aged rum, and the bright summer flavor of orange to make a cocktail that will make you crave end of summer nights. This Vanilla Orange Daiquiri is a creamsicle drink that has a more adult tone to it. This is currently one of my favorite sippers because all of these flavors blend effortlessly together. The lime in it just rounds out that harsh rum taste that just makes for really pleasant sipping after a long day. I will say if you’re looking for that true creamsicle sweet punch, up the simply syrup in this recipe.
Vanilla Orange Daiquiri
Here’s how to make it. This is a simple end of summer start to fall cocktail that requires not a lot of effort. You’ll start first by cutting 1/4 of whole vanilla bean. Splitting it open and grabbing the seeds. If you’re not sure how to do this, one of my favorite blogs The Kitchn has a great tutorial. Add those vanilla beans you scraped out to the bottom of your shaker. Maybe take a moment to enjoy how amazing they smell too!
Next throw in your orange juice, lime juice, rum, and simply syrup into your shaker. Fill it with ice and give it a hard shake for 30 seconds. You really want to get the ingredients well combined here. After that pour into a frozen coupe or martini glass. Enjoy with an orange wheel garnish or peel!

Strain into a frosted coupe or martini glass. Serve with an orange wheel or curl.
Truly is there anything better than fresh orange juice and fresh vanilla together. This cocktail has me ready to bake scones or something!
