An easy holiday cocktail for entertaining. The Frostbite Margarita is a blue curaçao swirled cocktail made with Rancho La Gloria Ready To Drink Margarita Wine Cocktail. It’s a fun wintery and frozen adult holiday drink in a Table Full Body Red Glass.

If you’ve ever spent the Holidays in Houston, Texas you know that our version of winter is always an up and down of varying spring to winter temperatures that hardly ever dip below the freezing point. I remember not that long ago spending a Christmas is shorts and a tee shirt! If there is a rare flurry siting, the city shuts down and rejoices. We kind of make a big deal about a little bit of snow, especially if it happens on Christmas.
With the Holidays in full swing and temperatures prancing between 80s – 50s, there seems to be no White Christmas in site. So instead of waiting for the flurries to come to us, I thought I’d bring the cold to you and your party guest. I’m taking a Texas cocktail tradition and giving it a frosty blue blizzard chill! This cocktail may not make it snow, but it might give you a little frostbite.
This Frostbite Margarita takes H-E-B’s Primo Pick Rancho La Gloria Ready To Drink Margarita Wine Cocktail into an icy elixir swirled with a frozen ribbon of Blue Curaçao for a refreshing lime & orange margarita. While these blue margaritas are wintery perfection, they are also super easy to make for holiday entertaining. Even the snowman himself would approve!
To make this simple cocktail, you make two frozen margaritas then switch pouring them on top of each other in a layering effect! The key to making these layers to swirl together for that blizzardy look, the cocktail needs to be as icy as possible. So when you think you’ve added enough ice, add a little bit more.
To start this off put the glasses you’ll use into freezer to get a good chill on them. I use these German Kitchen & Table Full Body Red Glasses from H-E-B’s Primo Picks! I love how large they are and that they are lead-free!
To make your blue layer of the drink add into a blender, 6 ounces of Blue Curaçao, 2 ounces of fresh squeezed lime juice, and half an ounce of agave. Blend together for 15 seconds. Then add 1 cup of ice to the mixture and blend until it becomes a slushy consistency. If the mixture seems a little too thin, blend another quarter cup in. Add the slushy to a cup with a pour lip and put it the freezer to sit while you make your next layer.
We are literally going to rinse and repeat. Rinse out your blender to avoid turning this layer blue. Then we’re going to repeat the blending process. Add in one cup of Rancho La Gloria Ready To Drink Margarita Wine Cocktail and one cup of ice. Blend until slushy, adding more ice if it seems too thin. Then add it to a serving glass with a pour spout!
Next we will pull our Kitchen & Table Full Body Red Glasses glasses from the freezer and our Blue Curaço layer. First I give the frozen glasses a sugar rim garnish by dipping them lip side up in a shallow dish full of sugar.
Now to begin layering your margarita you’ll want to do the following:
Take your blue layer, using a rocking motion slowly fill up your glass about 1/4 of the way.
Repeat this with your lime layer filling another 1/4 of the glass.
Repeat your blue layer filling another 1/4 of the glass.
Top of with your lime layer.
This will make two 18 oz margaritas!
Garnish with fun straws and snowflake garnishes for a frosted over Holiday look!
- 6 ounces Blue Curacao
- 1 cup Rancho La Gloria Margarita Wine Cocktail
- 2 ounces Fresh Lime Juice
- 0.5 ounces Agave
- 2 - 2.5 cups Ice
In a blender blend your blue curacao, limes juice, and agave until we combined.
Add 1 cup of ice and blend until slushy consistency. Using more ice if needed.
Set aside in a cup with a pour lip, into the freezer.
Into a clean blender add your Rancho La Gloria Margarita Wine Cocktail and 1 cup of ice.
Blend until a slushy consistency, using more ice if needed.
Pour into a cup with a pour lip and set aside.
Remove the Blue Curacao layer from the freezer. Begin in a large wine cup or margarita glass adding in your blue layer until it fills ¼ of the cup. Use a rocking motion to pour the layer into the cup.
Pour your lime Margarita layer slowly, in a rocking motion, on top of your blue. Fill until you have added another ¼ of a cup.
Repeat this process until you fill your cup to the top.
Garnish with optional lime or pre-made sugar rim.
I am obsessed with these margaritas and how they turned out. They are sweet, tart, and perfect for giving that snowy effect. I think they are the perfect way to give Texas a frosty holiday blast! Which to me makes it feel like Santa will be here in no time. I bet Santa is a Margarita man, himself.
