The Astros are going to the World Series so we’re celebrating with a World Series inspired cocktail. This beer cocktail uses Karback’s Crawford Bock, tequila, orange juice, and bitters for a beer cocktail that is a home run.
This post is NOT sponsored, I just enjoy this Karbach beer and also a good theme.
Last week Altuve came in clutch and helped take the Astros to the World Series in a game that had some amazing moments for the Astros’ team. I grew up going to Astros games back when they played in the Astrodome and the era of the Killer B’s. Fast forward and what this team has done in the last 3 years is nothing short of a miracle for the city of Houston, who keeps getting kicked down by flooding.
To honor my home team heading back to the World Series to take back their World Series title from 2017, I’m throwing out this Take It Bock beer cocktail. It’s made with Karback’s Crawford Bock named after the Crawford Boxes at Minute Maid Park and an ode to all things Houston Astros. Crawford Bock is smooth with a mild hop taste which makes it completely crushable in this orange beer cocktail. This beer cocktail sits somewhere between a beer-mosa and a tequila sunrise. Though, if vodka is more you’re thing, substitute it in for something closer to a beer screwdriver.
TAKE IT BOCK COCKTAIL
So what if you’re here post World Series, Karbach’s not making Crawford Bock anymore, or you don’t live somewhere you can get Crawford Bock? Look for something smooth and crushable. A lawnmower beer with some silky tongue action. We’re not looking to be a hophead today, though you can give it a go if you’re in your feels about it. Look for beers using chinook and/or cascade hops. Think breakfast beer, think easy going because this can honestly double down as your new brunch cocktail.
Though if you get a chance to get Crawford Bock know a portion of proceeds from every Crawford Bock back to the Astros Foundation!
Here we go, it’s an in glass cocktail because we’re not trying to be fancy. We’re trying to watch a ball game with a cheese on cheese nacho stack and a hot dog.
Into a chilled pint glass is 1.5 oz silver tequila*, 7 oz chilled orange juice, 7 oz chilled Crawford Bock (or beer of your choosing), and a heavy-handed dash of citrus bitters (aff link, same brand, new label). Give it a light stir and enjoy!
I like to get a little heavy-handed on the citrus bitters because we’re working with a lot of volume in this cocktail and I want to catch those citrus bitters on the back of my tongue after a sip. I say a good 6-8 dashes but if you don’t chill with bitters ease up to 3-4.
*As I mentioned before, if you’re a vodka loving friend, swap out the silver tequila for you favorite vodka.
A beer cocktail using Karback's Crawford Bock, tequila, orange juice, and bitters for a beer cocktail that is a home run.
- 1.5 ounces Silver Tequila (can sub for Vodka)
- 7 ounces Crawford Bock Beer (see post for other beer options)
- 7 ounces Orange Juice
- 6-8 dashes Citrus Bitters
Into a chilled pint glass pour in tequila, Crawford Bock Beer, orange juice, and bitters. Give a light stir and garnish with an orange wheel.
Citrus, smooth, and a touch of hops. It’s a delicious and perfect cocktail for watching the World Series. Are you watching the game this week? Who are you cheering for? If you try this cocktail let me know over on my Instagram! I love seeing your boozy creations on our #BoozyTalk tag.
