Last year you guys wanted more mocktails and I gave you, ZERO. I do apologize. I just rarely find myself in the mood to create mocktails or should I say, learn the art of mimicking booze. However, a New Year’s resolution of mine was to do just that. I’m starting off with an easy, though in my defense when I polled everyone on Instagram, this was the most missed cocktail because brunch just isn’t brunching without a Mimosa. This Mimosa Mocktail is easy to whip up and perfect for those looking for a dry January mocktail or if you need a baby shower mocktail recipe. It makes 8 – 6oz cocktails and can easily be doubled to serve a larger crowd.
MIMOSA MOCKTAIL RECIPE
This cocktail is pretty self-explanatory. We’re subbing grapefruit or lemon sparkling water for champagne or sparkling wine. Most people will tell you to use lemon sparkling water but this is where I disagree a bit. When I make alcoholic mimosas I use Rosé or Brut champagne. It’s dry…very dry. Thus a tart and dry grapefruit sparkling water work much better.
Now if you’re a sec champagne person or even some sweet proseccos, then lemon sparkling water will be a better fit for you. Go by what you like. However, if you like that dry mouthfeel, I highly, highly recommend trying it with grapefruit sparkling water.
If you’re here because you’re dieting (you got this!) or just want to have less sugar in your diet, squeeze your own orange juice. I use this manual juicer and love it. If you can buy it freshly done, then that’s an option too. You’ll cut a ton of sugar out. If you want to take it a step further (even though it won’t cut sugar out but it will be fresh/whole) you can soak grapefruit in water overnight. Then using a Soda Stream turn it into fresh grapefruit soda water.
Into a carafe mix together 30 (2-2/3 cups) of fresh orange juice with 18 ounces (2-1/4 cups) grapefruit sparkling water. Stir until well combined and serve immediately in 6-ounce champagne flutes.

- 30 ounces Fresh Orange Juice 2-2/3 cups
- 18 ounces Grapefruit or Lemon Sparkling Water* 1-1/2 (12) ounce cans
Into a carafe pour in fresh orange juice and grapefruit/lemon sparkling water.
Stir and pour into 6-ounce champagne flutes.
*I use grapefruit to more resemble brut or rosè champagne. I use lemon to resemble prosecco or sec champagne. Use whichever ever you prefer!
