This week I thought I’d make a boozy milkshake but then an arctic blast came through and I wanted nothing, I repeat, nothing to do with anything cold. All I wanted was a cup of something hot to warm my bones. That’s when a tea cocktail came to mind. I mean is there anything better when it’s frigid cold than a Hot Toddy? Playing off that concept I came up with this Cranberry Mint Tea Cocktail. It’s the aromatic perfection of mint tea with the tartness from cranberry flavored vodka with some added sweetness to round it all out. It’s a lovely combination of warm, bright, and calming in all one sip.
CRANBERRY MINT TEA COCKTAIL
I make this hot tea cocktail with a cranberry infused vodka recipe I love from Dishes Delish. Grab it here. Though you can use a premade cranberry vodka like Debby Eddy or Smirnoff Sourced.
You have to start by making hot water to steep your tea in. I use to be a purist and use a kettle on a stove but now I just use this electric kettle because it’s easy mode.
Once you have your hot water add 3/4 cup to a mug and add 2 of mint tea bags or loose leaf into it to steep for 5 minutes. I typically use Bigelow Mint Medely because it’s got both spearmint and peppermint in it. I’m also a big fan of Tazo Refresh Mint. If you’d like your cocktail really hot, add half the amount of water and let the tea steep. Then add the other half after the 5 minutes is up.
From there you will remove the tea bags and pour in 1-1/2 ounce cranberry vodka, 1/2 ounce simple syrup, and 1/2 ounce of lemon juice. Stir until the simple syrup has fully incorporated.
I like to garnish this cocktail with sugared cranberries and a lemon wheel. Sip and let the delicious flavors warm you up while keeping your bright and cheery!

Tea cocktails are going to be on the top of my radar until this artic weather moves out of Houston. All I want to do is sip tea and sit by a fire. Are you a tea cocktail drinker? Do you prefer something more like a “Hot Coffee?”
I’m off to find a warm blanket and convince my dog to lay on my feet. How are you dealing with this arctic blast?
