How to throw your own baseball and beer themed happy hour for your next baseball watch party. This post is in collaboration with Circa Real Estate Houston.
If you’ve been avoiding all things sports or Houston, you might have missed the news that the Houston Astros are having a pretty stellar season this year. With hitting 70 wins on August 4th and being first in the ALW, Houston is doing nothing but celebrating. Even a few blogger friends and I were invited out by Circa Houston Real Estate for an Astros watch party and to enjoy a few Karbach brews in their beautiful new listing in The Heights.
With there being endless baseball watch parties and game time happy hours popping up, I thought I would share a few tips on how to create your own baseball themed happy hour for your next Astros watch party.
HOW TO THROW A BASEBALL THEMED HAPPY HOUR
1. Beer Flight Home Run
When I go to a baseball game I am not one to hit up the frozen margarita machines or the mini wine bottles. Deep down I’m a beer girl at heart and like my cocktails, I like them craft style. For a baseball themed happy hour, I think going with beer is an excellent decision. Pick up four different beers from one of your local breweries and have beer flights ready for your guest. Not only do they get to try out some funky new beers but it’s a good way to fuel that seventh-inning stretch.
2. Pair Baseball Foods To Your Brews
Circa invited out Josh from Karbach who taught us all about the history of Karbach Brewery and the crafting process behind making the beer. He also gave us a lot of useful information about the interactions between beer and foods. So grab your hot dog buns and pair these baseball classic foods to the beers you pick up.
Hots Dogs – Ales, Bocks, Lagers, Porters
Spicy Nachos – Ales, Lagers
PopCorn – Lagers, Ales
Burger – Ales, Bocks, Pilsners, Lagers, Porters
Soft Pretzel – Pilsner, Lagers
Pizza – Lager, Pilsners, Ales
Cracker Jacks- Bocks, Stouts
Peanuts – Stout, Porters
3. Game Day Decor
Deck your happy hour area out with game day decor. That old jersey you have signed and framed? Get it out of your office and show it off in your watch room! Fill team colored buckets up with popcorn, print food signs with baseball players on them, team koozies and even cookies with your team logo on them can be fun ( & functional decor).

4. Shortstops Who Drink
The obvious thing here is that you’re doing happy hour to drink and watch the game, am I right? However they say that there is around only 18 minutes of actual sport action being played in a baseball game. So in the spirit of happy hours that host trivia nights, throw out some baseball trivia during half-innings. The person who has the most points at the end of the night wins. The winner could be given a baseball cap or team baseball as a prize!
And the number one tip? Just have fun with it! Win or lose you’ll love your team no matter what. Plus there are never enough excuses to have your buddies come over for an afternoon with your home team and local beers.
