Today’s the big day, it’s my birthday! Wahoooo! Today marks my last birthday of my 20s. In the past I’ve shared my sentiments with getting older and how I’m an embrace the journey kind of gal. Look back at my 28th year, I can definitely say it was an incredible one and will be hard to top. Between accomplishing my first half marathons, donating 11 inches of hair, and getting to teach a cocktail class. I’ve not only flourished but so has this little website of mine. So I thank you, each of you for reading and shaking your way through this year with me.
So how are we celebrating? Well the only way I know how by boozing something up! This Boozy Funfetti Birthday Cake Milkshake (say that 3xs fast) is super sweet, super fun, and super easy to make. It’s 100% a dessert cocktail, so prepared to be jazzed up on only 3 ingredients! Ice cream, cake vodka, and funfetti cake mix. Yeah, that powdered stuff you buy in a bag to make the cake. If you’re a little over the top like me you can even use the leftover cake mix to make cake garnishes. This is going to be a crowd favorite and maybe even your new birthday tradition. So here’s to 29 my friends! May it be sweet, boozy, and unforgettable.
Boozy Funfetti Birthday Cake Milkshake
A cool thing about this recipe is that it’s incredibly customizable! Use vanilla vodka, use fruit loop vodka, use lemon cake mix, use chocolate cake mix, lime sherbert, or any mix and match ways you can come up with. You can even make a Gluten Free Milkshake by using GF Cake Mix, GF Vodka like Tito’s, and GF Ice cream! I’m thinking maybe I need to try a strawberry cake with creme to de cocoa. Thoughts?
This recipe is super easy. Add a pint of vanilla ice cream, two ounces of cake vodka, 1/2 cup funfetti cake mix to a blender. Blend it until it’s smooth and well combined. If it seems too thick, you can thin it down with milk. If you are extra boozy you can thin it down with a little more cake vodka. It’s your birthday, no judgements.
After that, you can use icing to rim one goblet glass or two rocks glasses that you then coat in sprinkles, though it’s totally optional. Pour your milkshake into the glass and you’re done! Sip sip hooray!
An adult milkshake using cake vodka, funfetti cake mix, and ice cream to create a deliciously sweet treat.
- 1 pint Vanilla Ice Cream (can use a birthday cake flavored one too)
- 2 ounces Cake Vodka
- 1/2 cup Funfetti Cake Mix
- Whipped Cream optional
- Vanilla Frosting opitonal
- Sprinkles optional
Into a blender add in your vanilla ice cream, cake vodka, and funfetti cake mix. Blend until well combined. Pour into 1 pint glass or 2 rocks glasses rimmed with frosting and sprinkles. Top with whipped cream.
How fun right? This is for sure going to be on repeat for my birthday and my husband’s. He was obsessed with this when he tried it. Just watch out because the cake mix hides the vodka very well!
So what’s next for this lady? Well in this final step out of my 20’s there are a few things I want to do.
10 Things I Want To Do By 30
- Run a Full Marathon.
- Take a Baking Glass. The cake I made with the leftover mix was ROUGH.
- Be Published.
- Move full time to a DSLR. Shocked? My FujiFilm x10 has been banging out most of these photos.
- Start a book club. Maybe an online one?
- Plan a vacation, that’s not to visit family. It’s be 4 years, folks! I love our family, obviously, because we use all our vacation time to visit them. However we need a vacation for just us two.
- Learn how to keep a plant alive. My husband has 8 freaking avocado trees going and my succulent died the other day. That’s how my gardening life’s going.
- Declutter EVERYTHING.
- Learn to repurpose furniture. Something I already started but need to get back into.
- Cut out caffeine. I know..that’s crazy. However, I’m apparently very sensitive to the stuff.
Okay, so those aren’t incredibly exciting things but listen I have 365 days and I’m trying to be very realistic. Plus, I like to leave wiggle room because you never know when lightning will strike up a new goal. I mean, that’s exactly how I ended up doing a Sprint Triathlon in 2016 and a Half Marathon in 2017!
What are some of your goals this year? Do you have a before 30th, 40th, 50th bucket list? Tell me all the details down below. Until next time friends, cheers!
