A football cocktail for the Big Game that is a mix of delicious flavors of a classic tiki cocktail mixed with the spices of El Yucateco® Green Chile Habanero sauce.
Something I'm excited about this year is that my city, Houston, is hosting home to the Big Game! Soon the streets are going to be flooded with visitors from all over to see the biggest football game of the year. It's been fun to see the city buzzing with the anticipation of it all!
My husband loves to have people over to watch the final game of the season, though sometimes I think he gets more into the commercials than the actual game. You know me, I'll never turn up a good opportunity to entertain, especially when it comes to making classic football recipes. Though something unique added to my entertaining over the years is to whip up a signature cocktail for the Big Game's halftime! My friends are wonderful and don't mind if I get really creative with what I'm shaking up. So they truly never know what they'll be getting! Plus it's just nice to add something new to the evening while we discuss our favorite moments thus far.
This year I really wanted to bring the flavor to our cocktails just like Houston does to it's food. All while also keeping that uniqueness that keeps my guests on their toes. This year I've created a deliciously bold Tiki Touchdown! It's a classic and easy pineapple tiki cocktail kicked up with a flavorful boost with El Yucateco® Green Chile Habanero Sauce. Think sweet pineapple, smokey dark rum, and a habanero sauce handcrafted to deliver rich flavor with just the right amount of heat that will encourage you to do your best end zone dance. Plus bonus, El Yucateco® is giving entrants the chance to win one-of-a-kind tailgating and homegating packages and MORE! You can enter right here!
To make this Tiki Touchdown you'll need pineapple juice, lime juice, cream de coconut, dark rum, orange curacao, and El Yucateco® Green Chile Habanero Sauce. You can use blue curacao if you already have it on hand. The flavors will be the same but the drink will be a fun teal coloring.
When I make large batch cocktails (4 or more) I like to use a pitcher or large container for easier mixing. This way I'm not stuck making only two cocktails at a time in a shaker. Plus now it's as simple as dropping all the ingredients into the pitcher and whisking for a minute of two. You can even make this ahead of halftime and let it chill in the fridge.
When ready to serve use a tom collins or highball glass (this recipe is for 14 oz glasses & makes 4 cocktails, 10 oz glasses will get you about 6 cocktails) and since this cocktail wasn't shaken over ice you're going want to fill the glasses with a lot of ice. I like to garnish it with tiki cocktail favorites like cherries, pineapple leaves, and grilled pineapples in the shape of footballs. Drop a few fun straws into your glasses and serve them up!
- 24 oz Pineapple Juice
- 9 oz Dark Rum
- 3 oz Lime Juice
- 3 oz Orange Curacao
- 3 oz Cream de Coconut
- 1 oz El Yucateco® Green Chile Habanero Sauce
I really love the balance of sweet and habanero flavor. The Green Chile Habanero Sauce is made with garlic, fresh green habanero peppers, spices, and seasonings. It's also low on vinegar compared to other hot sauces, so it really adds an amazing boost to this drink that I'm loving. El Yucateco® is #1 authentic habanero hot sauce so you know you're getting something delicious. I really think my guests are going to adore this halftime cocktail this year! I know we can't stop sipping it!
El Yucateco® is the #1 consumer choice. It is a fun flavorful brand that people love and make a part of their every day life. They can carry it in their purse, our mini bottles in their pockets, they can take it to tailgating events, to a friends BBQ or to their favorite restaurant, the options are endless. So if you want to grab your own bottle to create this Tiki Touchdown cocktail or any other delicious recipe, you can find it in the Hispanic Flavors aisle of your grocery store.
