It’s super easy to hollow out pineapples for fun drinks for themed parties, sitting by the pool, or at your next beach vacation. Let’s jump right into it because I know you’re here for the tutorial!
- Butcher Knife
- Paring Knife
- Cutting Board
- Hands that don’t mind getting messy.
Sitting your pineapple on the side take your butcher knife and remove the head of the pineapple. You can save it for garnish for later or throw it away. Sitting your pineapple back to verticle on your cutting board, using your paring knife starting cutting the inner of the pineapple. Also do this in a downward motion in a circle about one inch away from the pineapple walls. Once you have your circle begin to cut down the middle of it through the core of the pineapple. Repeat this process like cutting a pizza to get pie shaped pieces. (see second photo) Grabbing your spoon wiggle it behind a wedge of pineapple until you get it to release. From here I find it easier to use your hands to pull the rest of the pineapple pieces out. Once you are finished you will have a half-hollowed pineapple. You can repeat this process to hollow it all the way down but I find half way holds around a pint of liquid. Add ice and your rum punch, then sip away!
