We’re having a baby! I go through and answer some of your questions like “When are we due?”, “What does this mean for the cocktail blog?” and more as we welcome Baby H to the family & blog.
Merry Christmas, we’ve got some big news for you!
If you’ve been here awhile you’ve probably noticed that I’m pretty diligent about getting a new post up every week and lately, that’s just not been the case. That’s because your girl has been super tired because she’s growing a baby! That’s right we’ll be having a baby next year in 2020 and we’re over the moon about it.
Like every new Mom to be, people have a lot of questions and as someone who runs a cocktail blog, I’m sure there are even more. I’m going to go through and answer some of the basics about Baby H, plus some of the ones I think you’ll have about the cocktail blog. I’ll write up a bigger post down the road about how these weeks have been and the details but for now, let this hold you over!
WELCOMING BABY H
When are you due?
July 1, 2020 but we know how that goes. Could be sooner, could be later.
How far along are you? (Pregnancy math is hard, I get it.)
I’m 13 weeks on the dot today. Merry Christmas & welcome to the second trimester!
When did you find out?
We found out at 3 weeks and 5 days. It’s been a long, long wait to tell people since we found out so early on.
Did you plan for this?
Yes, we knew we wanted to have a baby in 2020…we just didn’t think we’d get pregnant on the first try. Lol.
Is everything going good & is the baby healthy?
If you’ve been here since I was blogging on Becoming A Heath, you know we had a miscarriage in 2015 with an unplanned pregnancy at 9 weeks.
So after that and despite all the anxiety, I’m so happy to say that we’ve got a happy, squirmy, and healthy baby hanging out in me.
Baby H has measured right on time with every appointment. Loves to kick and wave on ultrasounds and has a healthy heart rate between 155-165.
As for me, for the most part I’ve had a pretty easy pregnancy from at this point. I had some food aversions that came around Thanksgiving….of course. They have subsided and the only main symptom I’ve really had is being tired…omg I’m so tired..all the time. I’ll get into the specifics of my entire first trimester in another post but for the most part everything has been perfect.
Do you know/want to know what you’re having?
We don’t know yet, but we do want to find out. We should find out in mid January.
Do you have a hunch on what it is?
Not a damn clue or intuition.
Will you have a gender reveal party & will you share recipes for it?
No, it’s not my thing. I think a baby shower is enough for everyone involved. However, I’d love to make recipes for something like that. I’ll share more about that below.
Do you have names picked out?
We have some that we like but we’re also still working on it. For now though he or she is just Baby “H”.
What does this mean for the cocktail blog?
The question I’ve been agonizing about since before we even got pregnant. What would I do with the cocktail side of this blog?
I almost didn’t share this news here and almost just kept going like life was normal, but I knew I couldn’t keep a secret like that. I guess I was afraid it would turn people away from this space because “the cocktail blogger who can’t drink” doesn’t exactly attract some readers. I was also worried that if I wrote about my pregnancy and made this site a bit more about my life, it would also turn some others away. I had a lot of worries, okay? It’s the people pleaser in me.
In the end, I named this site Elle Talk because I wanted it to be a place I could ever morph into what I was interested in. So I’m letting the cards fall where they fall. Since we planned for this, I have been back logging a recipe library of unpublished alcoholic cocktails to share from prior to me being pregnant. So there will still be boozy drinks uploaded here. My husband is also my number one taste tester and has been since this blog opened. If something new comes along it will be with his help and tasting notes, just like every other drink on here.
I got a little lucky and Dry January is right around the corner, which we will be diving into again this year. It was a big hit last year so pregnancy aside, this was going to be a big topic. Also mocktails are one of my number one requested recipes every year, so this is going to be a good push to create those tasty drinks.
So over all, you can except some of the same content you usually do here. Boozy, non-boozy, and food.
Will you blog about the pregnancy and baby?
In the summer of this year, I realized I missed creating lifestyle content like when I first opened Elle Talk. Adding lifestyle back into this website has been on my radar for half a year now and it’s something I’ll be doing in 2020. Some of that will include this pregnancy and Baby “H”. Some of it will include Georgia again and more about general life. I hope you enjoy this content because baby or not, it was coming for you.
Overall, things are changing and not changing. That was the whole point of Elle Talk. It was never suppose to be just cocktails. However, I want to keep giving the people who love this site what they want along with those who want to know a little more about the person behind the site. I hope you enjoy the content to come. I hope you enjoy getting to know me through my life again and if you weren’t here for that, getting to know me for the first time.
Last one, how is Georgia taking the news?
I know a lot of you ask me about Georgia and how she’s been doing over the years. She’s doing wonderful and is finally slowing down out of puppyhood. It just takes long with Irish Setters, what can I say? I’m not sure if she knows yet though. Sometime there are moments but then others…she’s a 5 year old puppy who has no clue she’s about to lose her only child status, lol. However, I’ll take these sweet moments that might be a clue into that she’s starting to figure it out.
Thank you to everyone who reached out on social media to congratulate us. Thank you to those who are excited about the new stuff to come. We already can tell how much Baby H is already so loved.
Now it’s time to breathe a sigh of relief because secrets are hard y’all! If you have any questions you’d like me to answer in future posts, leave them below & I’ll add them to our list. For now, we’re looking forward to our Christmas in July.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
