Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I really love these summer holidays that bring people together to be outside celebrating with each other. Here in Texas, Memorial Day feels like the start to summer since most schools are out for the vacation. There are fun BBQs to attend, graduation parties, and firework picnics all to be celebrated over the weekend.
For the occasion I wanted to try something a little new with you guys and share one of my favorite recipes along with my tips on serving it. If you follow me over on SnapChat (@Elle_Talk) you know that my favorite place in the home is the kitchen. I don't just craft cocktails in it, I do a lot of cooking as well. I want to get into sharing more of my recipes in this space and really make it place you feel like you can come to when you need to entertain guests. For my first recipe I'll be sharing my go to recipe for parties and get togethers in the summer! Plus tips on how to make serving easy and hassle free!
THE SECRET TIP
When I get invited out to a BBQ in Texas I'm always asked to bring my Table Side Guacamole. This stuff feeds a crowd and by making it customizable with extra toppings makes for a fun experience for guests. My number one tip for this recipe will surprise you, though! It's serving the chips in a Rubbermaid Pitcher! Doing this makes for easy serving over a bag with it's large, comfortable handle, easy to take on the go, and I've found having a three-position lid keeps chips fresh longer with its closed feature than when using a chip clip (bonus no bugs in the chips thanks to the lid too). Plus this food storage is dishwasher safe away from the heating element for easy clean up! I love this trick and use it in our pantry when I'm not entertaining. I love the clean look it gives and how I don't have stale chips! Rubbermaid has two summer colors out Lagoon Blue (featured) and Calypso Coral that make for a fun splash of color for serving and in your pantry!
After you have your chips all ready to go in your pitcher let's make my famous Guacamole. I personally believe the best Guacs breaks down to the way you spice them. In my recipe, I use garlic powder, pepper, sea salt, and chili powder to make it smokey and delicious. As for topping options, they are limitless. Since this is a Table Side Guacamole bar to go, I love giving people unique flavor options and options to amp up what they already love in guacamole. My favorite unique ingredients are; Bacon, cheese, and roasted garlic. Classic add-ins: Jalapeno, extra tomato, extra red onion.
This recipe will feed 6-8 if using large avocados but if all you have small ones double your avocados or half your other ingredients to make a smaller amount. When it comes to mashing your ingredients together you can use the back of a fork to mash the guacamole. However, a great trick I learned from my husband is to use a potato masher!
That guacamole is already calling for a chip to be dipped in it! Since I'm asked often to bring this to get together I've found serving it in a Rubbermaid Platter makes for easier travel. - 2 Roma Tomatoes
- 1/4 cup Cilantro
- 2 Tablespoons Lime Juice
- 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
- 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
