Berry Royally Smashed

A Berry Royally Smashed is a take on a whiskey smash using three types of berries, lime juice, and Crown Royal Whisky. I made this drink with the back story of how I met my husband. // www.ElleTalk.com

Did this week become seriously off-centered to anyone else? While it wasn't exactly bad, it was slightly off enough to not be good either. However, I'm going to let it slide because this weekend is the start to our Anniversary weekend. On Monday we will have been married for two years! To be honest it feels like it's been a seriously longer time than that. I say that with the knowledge that we've been together for a total of almost 8 years. So while 2 years of marriage is not very long, we've been doing this thing for a good bit of time.

If you didn't know, Brad and I met at a mutual friend's birthday back in college. The story goes like this. Girl sees boy, boy sees girl, boy says zero words to girl, girl says zero words to boy, so boy just kisses girl. Wait what!? 100% true story. Except the part where one might assume B is a bold, romantic type, that reminds you of Ryan Gosling in The Notebook. He's actually very much the opposite. Also, the story is a lot less glamorous than that, because let's be honest we were in college. See the details I left out is that this all takes place over hours. B was stuck in a beer pong tournament, classy, and couldn't break away. Which also means he was drinking a lot of beer, even classier. Which leads up to the whole glamorously smashed and bold hello kiss, the utmost of class. We really are just a title away to being true royalty. Can you imagine this story being told at our wedding? It wasn't.

While we parted ways from the party and would then end up only being really great friends for a chunk of time. Yeah, I know, "This guy boldly kisses you and you gave him the friend zone?!" Life is complicated, yo. We did however effortlessly fall in love and eventually, I really did marry my best friend. Funny how this all worked out right? I guess every kiss starts with a tapped keg.

Jokes aside I'm very grateful for the timing B was placed into my life, and with that you knew I had to make a drink in his honor. With the sweet kiss of berries and lime to a whole bunch of Crown Royal whisky, this Berry Royally Smashed sums up a lot of how we first met. This cocktail is easy to make so let's get to shaking.

This is a great summer whiskey cocktail for sipping in a cool breeze. I love how sweet and tart the flavors are when combined. My husband loves that even though with it's fancy color, you still have the strong notes of the Crown Royal Whisky. Which is a perfect balance, like us.

In the comments below let me know how you meet your significant other, and if you don't have a story let me know of a drink you associate with a really great memory! Maybe it's champagne celebrating a graduation or a special red wine you have on fancy occasions. I'd love to hear your stories down below.
