This weekend was my final race of 2017. I finished off the year with a 5K fun run down in Galveston, Texas. Unfortunate for everyone involved the weather had dropped 40 degrees the night before and we were faced with 40 mph crosswinds. It was a hard run that left Brad & myself both not finishing at our goal times. Brad participated in the half marathon and came in at 1:36 and my 5K came in at 35:55. Both of us fell about 5 minutes behind on our times but with those conditions, I'm surprised it wasn't more.

So that's a total of 3 races this year. My most impressive being the sprint triathlon that I shaved 30 minutes off my time in. Which has me thinking about what goals I'll set for races in 2017. Here is what I'm thinking.

2017 Race Goals

1 Sprint Triathlon with a race time under one hour.
2 5Ks under 30 minutes.
1 10K with a goal to add distance endurance & just finish.
1 Cycling Race with a goal to just finish.

So that's the plan! Saying it sounds easy but I know these will be some serious goals for me to hit this year. It will involve staying motivated but also having fun. I'm really excited to build my schedule out for the next year for cycle days, run days, brick workouts, and fitness boosting classes. I made it 6 months with training and workouts, now can I do it for an entire year? Bring on the New Year!

GIVEAWAY

To celebrate the goals I hit this year and for the New Year goals being set. I wanted to throw a little giveaway with Orangetheory Fitness to help you reach your fitness goals in 2017. I've mentioned the heart rate monitored workout classes as being one of my favorites for basic workouts & triathlon training in the past. The high intensity workout classes are perfect for targeting endurance & strength strengthening in your fitness. Orangetheory Fitness is opening up another location in the Clear Lake Area in Webster, Texas. Which is on my side of town, which means no more dodging work traffic to get to my OTF classes. I went out to one of their mock classes last week and had a fantastic workout. I burned 610 calories with rowings, running, and strength training and kept burning calories for almost 36 hours. Which gave me a great boost for my race the following weekend. Orangetheory Fitness Webster and I have collaborated together to bring TWO lucky winners a 3-Class Package to the Orangetheory Fitness Webster location! Which opens December 23, 2016! We want to help you start your 2017 fitness goals off right whether you want to do your first 10K, triathlon, or just want to boost your health, we want to help you meet your goals.
